Since its beginnings in 1982, MTR has grown continuously as industry embraced membranes as an effective gas separation technology. After MTR sold its first commercial system to the petrochemical industry in 1992, the portfolio of applications expanded quickly. MTR now provides a full range of gas separation solutions for petrochemical plants, refineries, and gas processing facilities. Systems for these demanding applications need to be effective, economical, reliable, and safe; and must conform to industry standards. MTR’s systems are based not only on state-of-the-art membrane know-how they are also custom engineered to fit the application and the industry.
MTR's administrative, research, and manufacturing facilities are located in Newark, California. The company has sales offices in Houston, Texas and Brussels, Belgium and sales agents worldwide.

SalesMTR’s sales engineers have process backgrounds and are assigned to particular industry segments. They know their membranes, they know your industry, and they know the fit.
ManufacturingMTR ships membranes all over the world, but all are manufactured in a dedicated facility in Newark, California. Tests are run at multiple assembly levels, and material traceability is high. Completed modules are tested and shipped, and their subsequent performance is tracked as far as possible over their lifetimes.
Engineering DesignMTR has specialists for rotating equipment, and design of pressure vessels, piping, I&C, and electrical systems; we generally subcontract skid fabrication. This range of in-house expertise ensures a well-designed solution right from the beginning.
Project ManagementMTR’s project managers are engineers assigned to follow the job from the order right through to start-up they provide a single point of contact for the customer, and ensure the job is done right and on time.
Start-up AssistanceMTR has experienced engineers who supervise start-up. In addition, they will check out final skid installation and control system operation beforehand, and provide training for the customer’s personnel.
MTR received the Kirkpatrick Chemical Engineering Achievement Award for the successful commercialization of the original VaporSep® membrane technology. The award, which is sponsored by Chemical Engineering magazine, honors the best chemical engineering technology commercialized during the preceding two years.
